Thank you for responding to the OSU Medical Center issue a quick twelve months later. Since most of your time was focused on driving needs, I’m glad you’ve taken a moment to address health care needs.
I guess it has been a tough year for you: moving city hall, finding donors for a new stadium, and passing Fix Our Streets. Who has the time for the low, or no, income Tulsan? They’re not profitable.
The OSU Medical Center nurses are transferring to other hospitals, the residents are leaving, and now you’re suggesting a public trust. I mean, now you’re suggesting a public trust? What a brilliant idea. Did you forget the announced public trust between OSU Medical Center and Ardent from April 1, 2008? That deal fell through. The only thing larger than OSU Medical Center’s debt is our lack of faith in another public trust.
Will a public trust work? Only if the donors can control the surrounding land.
In a letter issued Tuesday, you urged Gov. Brad Henry, university presidents and Tulsa’s medical community to “fight the roadblocks” and find the “right solution.” Now that you’ve sent a letter, you can play the “It’s out my hands. I’m waiting for a response” card. Shall I schedule your next response for twelve months?
Why bother now? Let the hospital close. How else can you fight the undesirables in Downtown Tulsa? The Downtown YMCA is scheduled to move and is ending its residency program. The THA wants to relocate those residents to 10 S. Yale. If the hospital closed, that would mean fewer homeless people in downtown.
If we keep feeding them (the homeless), they’ll just keep coming back. If you don’t move the homeless out of Downtown, you’ll never create Taylor’s Entertainment District, or as I like to call it … The Blond Gnome District.
(P.S. Did you notice the blond gnome in the picture? If not, look again.)

I had no respect for Taylor before this. She is spineless and has no one’s back in anything. She is also the dumbest polictican in the country.
However, in this case she has covered herself in callousness as well as stupidity.
Proposing a solution in the 11th hour makes her look either incompetent or uncaring. She spent all her time bailing out BOK in the Greaat Plains adventure and shoe hioring the Drillers in to a dowtown park. Meanwhile the indigent health care in this community is drying up.
If she gets elected again I will be very surprised and violently ill.

Good comment sbtulsa. I’m leaning toward uncaring … and unprofitable.

I really think you should be fair and admit that Mayor Gnome always keeps good company. There’s also the incomparably feckless Gov. Brad Henry driving around somewhere, asleep at the wheel.
Perhaps we could build a few more casinos and have the OTA raise tolls to help fund transportation over to St. Francis, where the indigent can wait about 48 hours in the cold to receive their care?

How about we recognize the homeless as a new indian tribe and call them the Indigenawees. They can open a casino in the first floor of the OSU Medical Center and fund the hospital.

The problem with the downtown thing is that homelessness is downtown centric. They congregate where there are likely to be large crowds. Further they need to be near a public transport hub since they have no transport of their own. If all the homeless were taken out of downtown, others would replace them for the above reasons.
this of coursre implies that the homeless problem is growing. With the upcomiong recession, it probably will. So what have we gained Mayor Taylor?

irritatedtulsan,
Fund the hospital with casinos on the first floor and move the YMCA Shelter folks to the empty floors of One Technology Center. Gussy up the old YMCA Shelter with a new coat of paint, call it art deco, and rename it the Mayo Hotel.
They ought to put us on the new planning committee.

If they invite us, it’s probably a cover to shoot us. I think we’d make a great planning team.

I think KT looks good in a beard.

Does that make her your MILF? The “M” is for mayor in this case.
