While cleaning out family storage, I came across the official Univeristy of Tulsa Homecoming 1969 program guide. Last week, I posted pages 1 through 16. Below are pages 17 through 41.
Inside you’ll find the 1969 Hurrican lineup, an aerial shot of Skelly Stadium and vintage ads from many of Tulsa’s gone but not forgotten companies.
Enjoy a piece of Tulsa history in part two in this four-part series.
More to come, next week …
1. TU Homecoming 1969, Part One (Pages 1 through 16)
2. TU Homecoming 1969, Part Two (Pages 17 Through 41)
3. TU Homecoming 1969, Part Three (Pages 42 through 68)

I love it.
I notice that it mentions OJ Simpson. I can’t believe he played that long ago. He can relive his memories in prison.

Really? I missed that. Which page?

That’s on p. 35, an ad for the All-Time College Football Records Book.
A sign of another era, p. 38: “Go Tulsa! Go Hullicane! Go Pagoda!” On that same page, I notice that the 1968 Missouri Valley Conference championship was won by Memphis State with a 4-0-0 conference record. Some years it only took a 1-0-0 record to win the conference. Nowadays a team is lucky to get two or three non-conference games a year.
I noticed the Junior Varsity schedule on p. 18. Do they even have JV squads anymore?
Great to see Hal O’Halloran interviewing an invisible subject on p. 19.

I found it Michael. I don’t know if they have JV squads anymore. We might have to jump over to Inside Tulsa Sports and post a question on their forum.
